Christiane Charrette en direct

Network: Société Radio-Canada (SRC) TV Network

Broadcast Run: 1995 to 2003

Broadcast Medium: Television

Daily from 1995 to 1998, and weekly from 1999 onwards, Christiane Charrette en direct gave new meaning to the word interview. The host’s direct and candid questions pushed her guests to spontaneously respond in what was often a most enlightening fashion.

The program, which finally came to an end in 2003, was recorded in front of a live audience in a Montreal bar. When Marie-Josée Croze appeared live on the program, she learned on the air that she had just won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in the movie Les Invasions barbares.

Bernard Landry was the subject of a very tough interview when he appeared, and Radio Canada later had to apologize for some of the comments made by the program’s host. Christiane Charette en direct won 13 Gémeaux Awards and two Métrostars, including that of 1997 Female Personality of the Year.
