Steinberg’s was a leading grocery store chain in Canada for many years, and was especially strong in Quebec. Corporation featured six half hour documentaries about the company, produced by the National Film Board of Canada.

Arthur Hammond wrote, directed and produced the entire series and each program took a detailed look at a different aspect of the firm. Sam Steinberg, patriarch of the company, fully co-operated with Hammond to produce the series. The films were edited by Pierre Lasry, and the cinematographer was Jean-Pierre Lachapelle. George Pearson was the series’ executive producer.
