DIY (Do It Yourself)

In November 2000 Alliance Atlantis was granted a licence for The Luxe Network, a lifestyle specialty channel for those who liked to indulge their sybaritic tendencies in the pursuit of personal pleasure, whether in the fields of possessions, travel, good food and wine or hedonistic pursuits. 

The channel, by then retitled Fine Living Canada, launched on September 3rd of that year, by which time the U.S. E.W. Scripps Company, owners of the Fine Living channel in the States, had acquired a minority interest in the Canadian version.

CanWest Media Networks acquired Alliance Atlantis in December 2007, and with it majority ownership of Fine Living Canada.

On June 11th 2009, CanWest announced that they would shortly be shutting down Fine Living Canada, and launching DIY, a Do It Yourself channel,  DIY was also a US Scripps Network brand.

DIY Network Canada was launched on Monday October 19th 2009.

On October 27, 2010, Shaw Communications acquired Canwest and Goldman Sachs’ interest in CW Media. As a result, Shaw gained control of DIY Network.

On April 1, 2016, Shaw Media was acquired by Corus Entertainment.
