Driver’s Seat

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1989 to 1995

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired weekly during primetime, from 1989 to 1995.

This 30-minute program about automobiles was produced in Vancouver. Ted Laturnus and Tony Whitney, the Siskel & Ebert of car critics, hosted it. Their collective experience in automotive journalism set this show above all others. They were kind to manufacturers who produced good products and highly critical of those whose products they considered inferior. The show also explored the business side of the auto industry and offered viewers some do-it-yourself tips for keeping one’s car in good condition. After cancellation at the CBC, the show was re-named Inside Track and produced in syndication.
