Fashion File

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1989 to 2009

Broadcast Medium: Television

Fashion File was a half-hour daytime series produced in collaboration with Canadian fashion magazine. The content was devoted to news of both domestic and international fashion, with coverage of models parading down the world’s runways. It premiered in 1989 with Tim Blanks as the host, a job he held for seventeen years.

When Blanks left in 2006 to become a contributing editor to Conde Nast’s Style.ca website, the program held a nationwide Fashion File Host Hunt, which ran as a separate reality series, and which eventually resulted in Adrian Mainella being chosen as the new host of Fashion File.

The Fashion File series continued successfully for another three years, but in March 2009 the CBC announced that production of further shows had been cancelled for budgetary reasons, though repeats would continue for some time, and the title would be retained for possible future use.

Producers for the series included Madeleine Czigler, Antonetta Vasso, Samantha Shephard, Jesse Barkley, Keren Jackman, Donna Lee Lyons, Lara Landa and Luke Bryant, with Executive Producers Réjean Beaudoin and Chris Chilco.

The series was widely syndicated outside Canada.
