Here’s Duffy

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1958 to 1959

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired weekly on various nights, from June 1958 to October 1959

A 30 minute program of music and comedy featuring Jack Duffy. Duffy had performed as a singer since the 1940s and was often compared to Frank Sinatra because he looked like him and, like Sinatra, had sung with the Tommy Dorsey band. He had appeared regularly on such CBC television productions as Club O’Connor, The Barris Beat, Showtime and Folio.

Jill Foster was the featured comedienne. The orchestra was conducted by Eddie Karam, with Bill Brady’s singing group The Crescendoes (which included Billy Van, later to be a star in his own right).

The show first aired in the Saturday night, pre-National news slot, in 1958. It was moved to Friday evenings the following year and was sponsored by Salada Tea.
