Infoman

Network: Société Radio-Canada (SRC) TV Network

Broadcast Run: 2000

Broadcast Medium: Television

Infoman was a weekly program that took a humorous look at current events. In April 2008, Infoman broadcast its 200th program. Politicians above all, but also the hottest subjects making the headlines and popular culture, were lampooned with an unabashed sense of humour.

Jean-René Dufort, a biochimist in training, was the host. Every week, Chantal Lamarre presented a five-minute segment where she was entitled to complain about anything she wanted. The journalist M.C. Gilles also did a weekly piece.

Paul Martin, the former Prime Minister of Canada, is said to have declared that Infoman was his favourite TV program.

On the air since 2000, this program merely sought to be good tasteful family entertainment, yet became over the course of the decade an institution, a tradition. Jean-René Dufort and his partners Chantal Lamarre and Mc Gilles had loads of fun with the events that were making the headlines.

Politicians, hot button issues that everyone was talking about and popular culture were presented with a biting sense of humour. This program was primarily known for its irreverent take on politicians.
