Lenny Breau Show, The

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1966

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Friday evenings at 8 pm from August 12 to September 9, 1966.

Lenny Breau was one of Canada’s best jazz musicians. He was born in the state of Maine, but his family relocated to Winnipeg when he was a boy. His unique talent and creativity as a guitarist started as a youth and he appeared on radio shows and early television shows mostly playing country music. Randy Bachman, who later formed the Guess Who, used to play with Breau in his house, while deferring classes in high school.

By the 1960s, Breau had formed his own jazz trio and was often featured on variety shows produced in Winnipeg. This network program only ran as a summer series for a few weeks. Bob McMullin led the orchestra.
