Leo and Me

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1981

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Friday afternoons from May 29 to August 14, 1981.

This half hour sitcom was produced in Vancouver and featured the debut
of Canadian actor Michael J. Fox, who later starred in Family Ties and the
Back to the Future series of motion pictures. It was actually shot in
1979, and sat in the can for two years before being broadcast.

Fox played Jamie, while Leo was played by one of Canada’s most versatile and talented actors, Brent Carver, who later starred in Kiss of the Spider Woman on
Broadway. Leo was usually the one who got into trouble, and had to be bailed out
by his smarter nephew, Jamie.

The cast also included Shirley Milliner as Leo’s sister, Mina E. Mina
as her husband, and Guy Bannerman, Colin Vint, and Simon Webb. The show
was created by Merv Campone, written by Marc and Susan Strange [who created The Beachcombers], and produced by Don Eccleston.
