Other Eye, The

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1967

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Sunday nights at 10 from July 2 to August 27, 1967

This half hour talk show, was a lighter mix of music and information designed to complement The Public Eye, which aired in the same time slot during the regular television season. But the show’s summer run was expected to fill the late-night time slot vacated by Nightcap which was cancelled in May.

The show debuted with a Canada Day theme featuring an interview with Joey Smallwood, Premier of Newfoundland. It also had on-the-street interviews with Canadians, who were asked questions normally posed to citizenship applicants. The show continued with similar content for the rest of the run, but was not renewed nor extended into the late-night time-slot that CBC had wanted. [See The Other Eye, Nightcap]
