On March 31st 2009, MTV Canada, CTV and Free Form Productions Inc. announced that production had begun on ten episodes of an unscripted, half-hour original documentary series, to be titled Peak Season.  The series would be shot in Whistler, B.C., and would “take a look at the unfiltered lives of some twenty-somethings,” in a environment “where relationships change(d) as often as the weather”.

The series debuted on MTV on October 19th 2009.   It then played on the CTV network, with two episodes being scheduled 7:00 – 8:00pm each evening, December 28th through January 1st, and the series fortuitously gave viewers frequent specacular shots of the Whistler area, from which CTV’s 2010 Olympic coverage would be originating two months later.

Featured members of the cast included Stephanie Just, Dré Morel, Amanda Scheller, Ian Ross, Lauren Horton, Matt James and Elle Hetherington.

Peak Season was produced and developed by Free Form Productions Inc. in
association with MTV Canada for CTV,  and was created by Grant Fraggalsoch.
Andrea Fehsenfeld and Grant Fraggalosch were Executive Producers, along with Jesse Ignjatovic. Jeff Altrock was Co-Executive Producer, and Fred Frame was the director.
