2000

On April 11, Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd. was awarded an FM licence for Lloydminster. The new station would offer a pop/rock format and operate at 106.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts.

2001

“Border Rock 106.1 The Goat” CKLM-FM signed on the air on May 18.

On June 20, the CRTC approved the an application for authority to effect a change in the ownership of Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd., licensee of CKHL-FM High Level, CKKX-FM and CKYL Peace River, and CKLM-FM Lloydminster. The change in ownership is effected through the transfer of all the issued and outstanding shares held by J. Stewart Dent and Anita Dent in Peace Radio Network Ltd., a company which holds all the issued and outstanding shares of Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd., to 937593 Alberta Ltd., a company jointly owned by Terrence Babiy and Cynthia Babiy. Following the transaction, 937593 Alberta Ltd. will amalgamate with Peace Radio Network Ltd. This is the first step of a multi-step transaction. Mr. and Mrs. Dent will subsequently, acquire the assets of CKLM-FM Lloydminster, through 912038 Alberta Ltd., their personal holding company.

On August 17, the CRTC approved the application by 912038 Alberta Ltd. for authority to acquire CKLM-FM from Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd. Earlier – on June 20, approval was given for Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd., to transfer the voting shares held by J. Stewart Dent and Anita Dent in Peace Radio Network Ltd., a company holding all the issued and outstanding shares of Peace River Broadcasting Corp. Ltd., to 937593 Alberta Ltd., a company jointly owned by Terrence and Cynthia Babiy. The transaction addressed in the current decision is a subsequent step in the above-mentioned transaction whereby Mr. and Mrs. Dent are requesting authority to acquire the assets of CKLM-FM Lloydminster through 912038 Alberta Ltd., their personal Company.

2003

On August 22, CKLM was given approval to add a transmitter at Bonnyville on 99.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts. 

2004

CKLM-FM-1 Bonnyville received approval on October 20 to decrease antenna height from 148.2 metres to 121.9 metres.

2006

On November 20, CKLM-FM received permission for a new FM station at Bonnyville, operating on 99.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts. The applicant currently operates CKLM-FM-1 Bonnyville as a transmitter of CKLM-FM Lloydminster. This application involves the conversion of its Bonnyville transmitter to an originating station. The new station will provide 126 hours of local programming per week. The station will program a rock music format.

2007

CKLM-FM-1 Bonnyville was replaced September 28 by CFNA-FM ( (The Lakeland’s Best Rock 99-7 The Goat). It was no longer a rebroadcast transmitter of CKLM.

2008

On November 21, the CRTC approved the application by Vista Radio Ltd. to acquire the assets of the radio programming undertakings CFNA-FM Bonnyville and CKLM-FM Lloydminster, Alberta from 912038 Alberta Ltd., a corporation controlled in equal parts by Anita and Stewart Dent. Vista was a wholly owned subsidiary of Vista Broadcast Group Inc., a widely held corporation controlled by its board of directors pursuant to the terms of a shareholders’ agreement.

2010

With long-time Drive/Promo guy Kasz Michaels pursuing an opportunity outside of the industry, 106.1 The Goat brought Darren Brown back to the station. Darren previously held the Drive/MD position at the then 99.7 The Goat (Bonnyville, AB) before his most recent posting as Mornings/MD at Magic 99.9 in Thunder Bay, ON. Darren’s debut in the Border City was set for February 1st. 

JD Anderson added assistant program director duties to his role as music director / Midday host with 106-1 The Goat.

Chad Hansen was named new morning host of 103.5 Mountain FM Nelson, B.C. He had been with Vista’s The Goat in Lloydminster, where he was the morning man.

Morning show host Chad Hansen left for Vista Radio’s newly launched Mountain FM in Nelson. Darren Brown took over in mornings at The Goat…co-hosting with Erin Miller. Devon Zelmer took over afternoon drive from Darren.

Robin Prebble was the new News Director at The Goat. He had been with Corus Guelph. He began at The Goat December 8.

2011

Grant Biebrick left CKLM (106-1 The Goat) and CFNA (99.7 The Wolf) as Program and Music Director to become Program Director for CFWF and CKRM in Regina. J.D. Anderson was promoted from Assistant Program Director/Music Director to Program Director at CKLM-CFNA.

The new Program Director at WIRED 96.3FM Saskatoon was Darren Brown, who moved to his new role from morning host/Assistant Program Director duties at CKLM-FM (106.1 The Goat) Lloydminster.

2012

Andrew Beckler left The Goat for 92.9 The Bull in Saskatoon. 

It was announced that Vista President Terry Coles would move into retirement at the end of 2012 and immediately into a consulting role with the company. His successor would be CEO Margot Micallef who would handle the dual roles of President/CEO. Bryan Edwards moves to Senior VP of Business Development. Vista Kelowna General Manager/General Sales Manager Ross Hawse would become the Director Western Operations. Gary Russell, Vista’s Director of Systems and GM of Vista Prince George, would integrate Haliburton and Vista in Ontario as the Director of Integration and Operations, Vista East. Co-Founder/Executive VP Paul Mann would add Senior VP of Sales and Training and Development to his duties. Assisting him would be Tracey Gard, the GM/GSM of the Cariboo Group of Vista stations, as Director Vista Sales, West and based in Courtenay. The former finance executive at Corus and Telemedia, Chris Lecomte joined Vista as Senior VP/CFO, based in Toronto.

The CRTC approved a change to the effective control of Vista Radio Ltd. from a control exercised by its board of directors to a control exercised by Westerkirk Capital Inc., a corporation controlled by Thomson Investments Limited. Vista Radio Ltd. was the licensee of radio programming undertakings located in British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
