2014

On February 20, the CRTC approved the application by CAB-K Broadcasting Ltd. for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language commercial FM radio programming undertaking in Vegreville. It would operate at 106.5 MHz (channel 293B1) with an effective radiated power of 13,000 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 107.8 metres). CAB-K was jointly controlled by Brian Hepp and Melanie Hepp. The licence would expire August 31, 2020.

The new station would provide a first local radio service to Vegreville, and would offer a country music format targeting adults between the ages of 25 and 64. It would provide 126 hours of local programming during each broadcast week. Spoken word programming would include a community hotline that would feature interviews with representatives of groups or organizations that wish to promote community events. The station would also broadcast a buy, sell and trade program where residents participate by phone.
