On June 6, the CRTC approved the application by Gerald Bear for a broadcasting licence for a Type A, low-power native radio programming undertaking at Tobique, Perth-Andover, on the frequency 104.5 MHz, channel 238LP, with an effective radiated power of 50 watts. The licence would expire on August 31, 2003. The new station would broadcast 126 hours per week of local programming, of which 60% would be in the Maliseet language and 40% in English.
