2000

On September 1, The Joy FM Network Inc. was awarded a licence for a low-power English specialty FM station at Fredericton. It would operate on a frequency of 96.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 23 watts. The station would operate 126 hours each week and offer a predominantly Christian music format.

2001

CIXN-FM (“Joy FM”) signed on the air April 8 with a Christian contemporary music and religious talk format.

2003

On March 10, CIXN-FM was granted an increase in effective radiated power from 23 watts to 27 watts. The approval reflected the technical parameters of CIXN-FM as built and not as in the original authorization.

2007

On August 1 the CRTC renewed CIXN-FM’s licence until August 31, 2014. Conditions of licence included: The licensee shall maintain a local weekly programming level of at least 42 hours in order to accept or solicit local advertising. The licensee shall draw at least 80% of the total music broadcast every week from content sub-category 35 (non-classic religious). The licensee shall broadcast, in any broadcast week, less than 50% hit material.

2014

On January 30, the CRTC approved the application to change the authorized contours of CIXN-FM by increasing the average ERP from 27 to 250 watts (non-directional antenna).
