On December 29, the CRTC approved an application by Eddy Pottle, representing a society to be incorporated, for a broadcasting licence for an English- and native-language FM radio station at Rigolet on the frequency 89.9 MHz, channel 210, with a transmitter power of .5 watt to rebroadcast the programs originating from local studios and from the Okalakatiget Society network. The licence would expire September 30, 1990.

1993

When CHLR-FM’s licence was renewed on May 11, the CRTC noted that the station broadcast 15 hours of local programming weekly as well as 20 hours of programming received from the Okalakatiget Society network and 29 hours of programming from the CBC Eastern Arctic Regional Service.
