2009

On April 24, the CRTC approved the application by Acadia Broadcasting Limited for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language commercial FM radio station in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Acadia was controlled by Ocean Capital Investments NB Limited, a corporation controlled by John E. Irving. Acadia also owned CKBW in Bridgewater. The new station would operate on frequency 100.7 MHz (channel 264B1) with an effective radiated power of 10,000 watts. The applicant indicated that the new station would offer a New Country music format, and would broadcast 124 hours of local programming per broadcast week. Overall, 75% of the proposed minimum of nine hours and 21 minutes to be devoted to news bulletins would be local. The applicant committed to devote at least 40% of all category 2 (Popular music) musical selections broadcast during each broadcast week and between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, to Canadian selections. Of this amount, 10% would be devoted to emerging artists. The licence would expire 31 August 2015.

2010

John Waterman became the News Director at 98.1 FM CKBW July 19. He would also be responsible for news on the soon-to-be-launched Country station, CJHK-FM. Waterman had been with ATV/CTV Halifax and, most recently, 91.7 The Coast Sechelt. CKBW-FM and its soon-to-be launched sister station moved to new digs. The new location at 135 North Street ensured maximum visibility since it was part of a major shopping area. CJHK-FM went on the air July 26 as Hank FM, offering “today’s best country hits and yesterday’s favorites.” The launch of the new station coincided with a move into new, state of the art studios and offices at 135 North Street…for both CJHK and CKBW. The first songs played were Hank Snow’s I’ve Been Everywhere followed by Toby Keith’s How Do You Like Me Now. Jim MacMullin was vice president of Acadia Broadcasting. John Wiles was CJHK station manager.

2011

The new News Director at CKBW/HANK FM Bridgewater was Steve MacArthur, an ex-reporter at The Rush Whitehorse.

2012

The CRTC approved the change in the effective control of Acadia Broadcasting Limited from John E. Irving to a joint control exercised by John K.F. Irving and Anne C.I. Oxley, following the death of John E. Irving in 2010. Acadia was the licensee of radio stations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario, following the amalgamation of Northwoods Broadcasting Limited with its mother company Acadia on February 3, 2012.

2014

CJHK rebranded from HANK FM to Country 100.7.
