1941

CHAD signed on December 1, on 1340 kHz with a power of 250 watts. The station was owned by Radio Rouyn Abitibi Ltd.

1942

Jean Legault, manager of CKRN, was now also running CHAD and CKVD.

1944

Kondrick B. Crossley joined CKRN as program director. He would also be responsible for CHAD Amos and CKVD Val d’Or and had been senior announcer at CKGB in Timmins.

The sale of the Northern Quebec Broadcasting System (CKRN Rouyn, CHAD Amos and CKVD Val d’Or) was reported. The stations were owned by Roy H. Thomson, president of National Broadcasting & Publishing Ltd. The purchasers were expected to be Hector Authier, M.P. from Amos and Roland Beudry of Montreal (president and vice president of the new company). The new owner was Radio Rouyn-Abitibi Ltee.

1945

CBC Quebec Regional Network Supplementary Stations: CKCH, CHGB, CHNC, CKRN, CHVD, CHAD.

1947

J. Linklater was manager and J. Fox was commercial manager.

1948

CHAD broadcast only a few hours a day and bilingual programming was offered.

The CBC recommended for approval the application by Radio Rouyn Abitibi Ltee to transfer CHAD, CKVD and CKRN to Northern Radio – Radio Nord. The board said it understood control would remain with David Armand Gourd, Jean-Joffre Gourd and R. Charbonneau.

John Fox left CKRN-CKVD-CHAD for Omer Renaud & Company’s (rep firm) Toronto office.

CHAD was on 1340 kHz and had a power of 250 watts.

D.A. Gourd was manager of CHAD, CKRN and CKVD.

1949

L. Duchesnay was commercial manager.

1952

CHAD became a CAB member.

1957

By this time, CHAD was an affiliate of the Radio-Canada network. Ownership of Radio Nord Inc. was as follows: David A. Gourd 33.3%, Jean J. Gourd 46.1%, Roger Charbonneau 0.1%, Jean Monette 5.1%, Paul E. Riverin 12.7%, Richard Staines 2.6%, 2 other shareholders 0.1%.

1965

David A. Gourd was president of the company and manger of CHAD.

1967

Approval was given for the transfer of 39,705 common shares to Assurgo Ltee.

1968

At this time, CHAD was airing 76 hours a week of CBC programming. The station produced two hours a day of programming from Amos.

1969

On July 25, CHAD 1340 was authorized to increase its daytime power from 250 to 1,000 watts. Night power would remain 250 watts and the station would continue to use a non- directional pattern.

1979

CHAD was affiliated with the Telemedia network.

1984

On December 13, CHAD was given approval to increase night-time power from 250 watts to 1,000 watts.

The station also moved to new studios and offices.

1988

On September 13,  Radio Nord Inc. and Radio La Sarre Inc. were given permission to disaffiliate stations CHAD Amos, CKRN Rouyn-Noranda, CKVD Vald’Or and CKLS La Sarre from the Radio-Canada AM radio network. Network programming was now available in the region via CHLM-FM Rouyn and CHLM-FM-1 Val d’Or.

1989

On September 7, CHAD was given approval to operate rebroadcast transmitters at Joutel (92.5 MHz with 5 watts) and Matagami (94.9 MHz with 20 watts).

1998

On April 7, Radio Nord, owner of CHAD, CKVD Val d’Or and CKRN Rouyn Noranda was given approval to operate a new French-language FM station at Val d’Or, on 104.3 MHz, with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts, and a transmitter at Rouyn-Noranda, on 98.3 MHz with an average effective radiated power of 862 watts. The new FM station would replace all three AM stations.

AM stations CHAD, CKVD and CKRN were replaced by CKVD-FM Val d’Or and its transmitter CKVD-FM-1 Rouyn-Noranda.
