On June 22, the CRTC approved the application by Douglas Martin for a broadcasting licence for a Micmac, English- and French-language special FM radio station at Maria (Reserve) on the frequency 93.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 1 watt. The licence would expire August 31, 1991.

On January 17, the CRTC approved CHRG-FM’s application to increase ERP from 1 watt to 10 watts and to change the frequency from 93.1 to 101.7 MHz.
