1975

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation opened CBKA-FM at La Ronge on July 31. It operated on a frequency of 105.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 80 watts. In addition to programming from the main CBC Radio network and CBK-AM in Regina, CBKA-FM also offered locally produced productions.

1994

When CBKA-FM had its licence renewed, it was noted as offering 10 hours of local programming per week and the station served as the point of access for 15 hours per week of native access programming. The following rebroadcast transmitters were associated with CBKA’s licence: CBKB-FM Beauval, CBKD-FM Buffalo Narrows, CBKV-FM Cumberland House, CBKO-FM Denare Beach, CBKG-FM Fond du Lac, CBKC-FM Ile-à-la-Crosse, CBKN-FM Island Falls, CBKE-FM La Loche, CBKL-FM Montreal Lake, CBKK-FM Patuanak, CBKW-FM Pelican Narrows, CBKJ-FM Pinehouse Lake, CBKP-FM Southend, CBKI-FM Stanley Mission, CBKH-FM Stony Rapids and CBDH-FM Uranium City. Many of these transmitters were originally associated with CBK-AM in Regina.

1995

CBC Radio added overnight programming to its schedule on May 1, with “CBC Radio Overnight”. The programming started out on certain CBC stations and was expanded to all of its stations by September. The program aired between 1:00 and 6:00 a.m. (local time) and offered reports from public broadcasters in 25 countries, with Canadian news on the hour. The program service was provided by the World Radio Network in London, England.

1997

The CBC Radio network (CBC Radio) was renamed “CBC Radio One” on September 1.

2001

As of 2001, CBKA operated the following rebroadcast transmitters (on air dates in brackets): CBKB-FM Beauval (September 3, 1976), CBKD-FM Buffalo Narrows (September 3, 1976), CBKV-FM Cumberland House (July 19, 1982), CBKO-FM Denare Beach (June 2, 1982), CBKG-FM Fond du Lac (September 28, 1977), CBKC-FM Ile-à-la-Crosse (September 3, 1976), CBKN-FM Island Falls (October 1, 1982), CBKE-FM La Loche (September 9, 1976), CBKL-FM Montreal Lake (August 4, 1982), CBKK-FM Patuanak (February 14, 1982), CBKW-FM Pelican Narrows (February 9, 1983), CBKJ-FM Pinehouse Lake (June 14, 1977), CBKP-FM Southend (December 20, 1979), CBKI-FM Stanley Mission (June 6, 1977), CBKH-FM Stony Rapids (September 15, 1977), and CBDH-FM Uranium City (August 18, 1980). CBKA-FM broadcasts approximately 47 hours of local programming each week. It is jointly produced in La Ronge and Regina. 

2009

On May 12 the CRTC renewed the licence for CBKA-FM. The renewal included the following rebroadcast transmitters: CBDH-FM Uranium City, CBKB Beauval, CBKH Stony Rapids/Black Lake, CBKC-FM Ile-a-la-Crosse, CBKD-FM Buffalo Narrows, CBKE-FM La Loche, CBKG-FM Fond du Lac, CBKI-FM Stanley Mission, CBKJ-FM Pinehouse Lake, CBKK-FM Patuanak, CBKL-FM Montreal Lake, CBKN-FM Island Falls, CBKO-FM Denare Beach, CBKP-FM Southend, CBKV-FM Cumberland House and CBKW-FM Pelican Narrows. 

On October 9, the CRTC approved the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to amend the licence for CBKA-FM, in order to operate a transmitter in Creighton to rebroadcast the programming Radio One. The new transmitter would operate at 93.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 267 watts. The CBC noted that Creighton was within the coverage contours of its station CBWF-FM Flin Flon, Manitoba. However, it explained that the new transmitter was intended to provide Creighton with programming originating in Saskatchewan. The licensee added that the transmitter in Creighton would share CBC’s existing transmission site in Flin Flon.

2010

On August 9, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CBKA-FM (and its transmitters) to August 31, 2011.

2011

On August 25, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CBKA-FM and its transmitters to March 1, 2013.

2013

On February 22, the CRTC administratively renewed the licences for CBKA-FM La Ronge and its transmitters to August 31, 2013.

On May 28, the CRTC renewed the licence of CBKA-FM La Ronge and its transmitters CBDH-FM Uranium City, CBKA-FM-1 Creighton, CBKB-FM Beauval, CBKC-FM Île-à-la-Crosse, CBKD-FM Buffalo Narrows, CBKE-FM La Loche, CBKG-FM Fond du Lac, CBKH-FM Stony Rapids/Black Lake, CBKI-FM Stanley Mission, CBKJ-FM Pinehouse Lake, CBKK-FM Patuanak, CBKL-FM Montreal Lake, CBKN-FM Island Falls, CBKO-FM Denare Beach, CBKP-FM Southend, CBKV-FM Cumberland House and CBKW-FM Pelican Narrows, for a five year term, to August 31, 2018.
