Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1970

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Sunday afternoons for three weeks in August 1970.

This was a series of three hour-long programs about the history of the Royal Canadian Navy. Filmed archives from Ottawa, the CBC and newsreels provided the bulk of the visuals.

Part one detailed the first four decades and featured an interview with Admiral Victor Brodeur who joined the Navy in 1910. Part two chronicled the Navy’s efforts during WW II and the third part brought the story up to date with the unification of the armed forces in Canada.

Frank Williams produced the series in Montreal, and the host was Liston McIlhagga, with interviews by Bill Herbert and Sheridan Nelson.
