Tales of Adventure

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 1952 to 1953

Broadcast Medium: Television

Aired Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, from September to November 1952. It was moved to Fridays in the same timeslot, from December 1952 to July 1953.

CBC wasn’t afraid to start serials on television similar to radio programs of the 1940s and 1950s.. This 30 minute program was aimed at pre-teens and featured well-known works of fiction in regular segments.

One of the first such serials was a six-part adaptation of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, by Ray Darby, produced by Silvio Narizzano, and starring Colin Eaton, Ed McNamara, Warren Wilson, Earle Grey, Eric Clavering, Murray Kash, William Holland, and Al Pearce. It was followed by Wilkie Collins’s The Moonstone, as adapted by Michael Jacot and produced by David Greene
