On June 8, the CRTC approved the application by Acadian Communications Limited for a broadcasting licence for an English-language television programming undertaking at Chéticamp, on channel 28 with a transmitter power of 20 watts, to broadcast community programming in encrypted mode. The licence would expire August 31, 2002. Acadian was the licensee of a radiocommunication distribution undertaking at Chéticamp which used low-power television transmitters to distribute encrypted television signals received via satellite. Issuance of the separate licence approved herein was necessary since the programming to be broadcast on the proposed undertaking would be produced by the licensee.
