This 30 minute documentary series was specifically produced by CBC for Canada’s Centennial. It aimed to explore the Arctic Region, its culture, people and Aboriginal mythology. The main thrust of the series was the white man’s effect on this part of the country, and to offer insights into the history of relations between whites and natives.

The series opened with a program about an important native legend, how the Raven created the world. It was called Land Before Time, dramatized by M Charles Cohen. The rest of the series featured documentaries covering a wide range of topics including traditional customs of the Inuit, the effects of trading with the Hudson’s Bay Company, hunting in the region and the effect of technology on the north.
