The show debuted on January 7, 1985 with host, Patrick Watson [to 1987]; Robert Scully, host 1987 to 1997.Duncan McEwan was Executive Producer. Whether with an entrepreneur looking to move a business from a garage into a factory, or a wheeler-dealer trying to pull off a high-priced acquisition, Venture was able to get inside with people as they made their mark on the Canadian business landscape–to show their real-life drama as it unfolded.
[cbc.ca/venture] Dianne Buckner assumed the role of host in 1997. Regular contributors to the program were Havard Gould, Deborah Lamb and Chris Goldrick.
In April 2007 it was announced that Venture would not be renewed for the 2007-2008 season.
