Village on a Diet

Network: CBC Television Network

Broadcast Run: 2011

Broadcast Medium: Television

CBC started off 2011 by trying to help Canadians in general lose weight, and in particular the residents of the town of Taylor, B.C, a community of some 1400 people. The citizens of this northern town jointly undertook to try to lose a ton of weight between them, and a team of weight-loss professionals moved in to help them achieve their objective.

The experts included Dr Ali Zentner, a physician specializing in obesity, Maria Thomas a diet expert, chef Jonathan Chovancek, psychologist Adele Fox and Garfield Wilson and Mike Veinot, two tough trainers.

The ten-part, one-hour series premiered on CBC on Monday January 3rd at 9:00 pm. It was produced by Force Four Entertainment, with John Ritchie as Executive Producer and Joyce Sawa as producer. Grant Greschuk was series director.

While Village on a Diet was not among the series announced on February 11th as renewed for the fall of 2011,  the CBC said no decision regarding renewal had yet been reached.
